Ready for New Years 2010!

Our little streets of Kahuku will soon be like a war zone filled with smoke and brilliant explosions. It really is a time I look forward to - traditions here in Kahuku are unlike anything I've ever heard of. Shipments of cases and cases of fireworks are sent here. Families sitting out all day and night winning spectators for their firework show. Not only can you barely see in front of you because of the smoke, but you can barely hear anything because of the crackles and booms. 3 year olds lighting flowers, firecracker ropes attached to dirt bikes, pipe bombs shaking your house, aerials like an umbrella over the town...my favorites.

Last year we spent New Years on the beach lighting fireworks with a few different families and kiddies.
I'm not sure what I'll be doing this year, but fireworks better be involved at some point.

Just wanted to record the night I saw Avatar 3D. I think it's the best movie ever. Visually it blew my mind. The story was incredibly meaningful and engaging. Beautiful.

There's such a strong connection between us humans and our land. We must never take the wonders of the earth for granted. Especially the creator...whose power is always with us, especially in times of need and weakness. If we ask, His support is never failing.

11pm: Institute Dance
1am: Deciding to go to Mac 24/7 for pancakes
2am: Driving to Mac 24/7...lost
3am: 5 of us sharing a huge stack of Banana Walnut Chocolate enormous humongous pancakes
4am: Driving home
5am: Home. Changing clothes, picking up cameras
6am: Arriving at Kualoa Ranch for sunrise, photo shoot with Carla and Linda
9am: Arriving at home, body aching and dead tired
9:12: Sleep.
1:55pm: Awake.

Things for me

My body chose a great week to be sick and miserable:
A busy(stressful) week of working, concert planning, media developing, homeworking and...not-really-sleeping. Now it's finally over.

I finally feel better tonight.

I've been writing lists on scrap papers around the house of things I want to learn and do and experience and make and be happy about.

This post is more just a reminder to myself.
In no order.

• run every day

• make a memory book with my family
• make a montage of Planet Earth pics i've collected

• organize my room - books, papers, pictures, decor, everything

forever a child

don't ever feel like you have to give up fun for grown-up things.

Grown--ups like numbers. when you tell them about a new friend, they never ask questions about what really matters. they never ask: 'what does his voice sound like?" "what games does he like best?" "does he collect butterfrlies?" they ask: "how old is he?" "how many brothers does he have?" "howmuch does he weight?" "how much money does his father make?" only then do they think they know him. if you tell gorwn-ups, "i saw a beautiful red brick house with geraniums at the windows and doves on the roof..." they won't be able to imagince such a house. you have to tell them, "I saw a house worth a hundred thousand francs." then they exclaim, "what a pretty house!" [The Little Prince, p 10]

with the heart

it's coming. a huge wave of responsibilities and events and assignments and work and just...things.
but really how come all this stuff comes up and now i dont' know where to start and even where i'm supposed to finish.

i'm trying to follow my heart and do the things i know i'm supposed to be doing. then i know i'll end up in a good place. because what i can see right now is not the complete picture. there's more out there for me.

Out My Window

I took a sweet nap in the late afternoon and woke up gazing right out my window to catch the sunset.

Today and everyday is not just another day!

So a little while ago I started reading up on articles about "Today in History". Because so much has happened. And every day is special. Every day has a huge significance whether we know it or not.

For example, YESTERDAY...
AUG 4, 1944: Anne Frank, 15, was arrested along with her sister, parents and four other people, after they had spent two years hiding from the Nazis in a building in Amsterdam. Her diary became a famous account of the Holocaust.

Wow...there seems to be something monumental and important on every single day. (Not only is it another day we live and experience something new and old, but think about everything in the world that has happened and is happening!!) Just something to think about.

AUG 5, 1962 Actress Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her Los Angeles home at age 36. Her death was ruled a probable suicide from an overdose of sleeping pills.

So in honor of her death, I have made a masterpiece unlike any other..................

Ok, so really it was me and my niece wasting a lot of time but having a lot of fun in our tribute to marilyn monroe, photoshop coloring our picture...i do want blue hair though. And yes, we are Monroes.

film is funn

oookkkkkkkk! so my uncle gave me an old camera of his. it's a minolta 7000 maxxum i think 1985 i'm not sure. but anyways it's just so awesome. i went out with my friend carla and we had a photoshoot day - just like the old days with berni, ryan, and sara! :D (miss you guys!)
you can just tell how horrible my scanner is, because the color didn't come out so well. BUT--I LOVE IT. because it looks vintage and cool.

ok so this is in haleiwa. it was another great sunset. but when i first set foot on the beach, it was like i hadn't seen the water in years. it was glimmering all sorts of colors and it was so calm that it looked like i could just glide right on top of it.

hey, kaihe and karlee, do you remember this spot? :D i love the bench.

this is some tree at sunset beach. one thing i had to try and get used to was the fact that you can't just "preview" film photos right after the shot. so i wasn't sure how these would turn out, but i love the macro shots.
